Shanthini Pillai is a senior lecturer at the School of Language Studies and Linguistics, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She holds a Phd in Literary Studies from the National University of Singapore. Her main teaching areas are Literary Theory and Literatures from postcolonial societies. She is author of Colonial Visions, Postcolonial Revisions: Images of the Indian diaspora of Malaysia (Cambridge Scholars Press 2007) and co-editor of Reconstructing Realities: Occident-Orient Engagements (Longman Pearson 2007) as well as a number of other books in Language and Literary Studies. She also has numerous journal articles in various areas of Literary Studies and is a recipient of the 2006-2007 Australia-Malaysia Institute Fellowships.
The AASRN is a formal network for academic, community and other institutional groups who research in the area of Asian Australian Studies.
