Robert Phillips

Robert Phillips received his Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine in 2008, and is currently a postdoctoral writing fellow at CAPSTRANS at the University of Wollongong. His dissertation, “Queering Online: Transnational Sexual Citizenship in Singapore,” is based on fieldwork conducted in 2005-2007 and explores how the globalization of the Internet shapes national and sexual identity in Singapore. Research interests include the utilization of anthropological and feminist theory and methodology in examining the intersections of technology, gender/sexuality, race/ethnicity, and migration/diaspora in the Australian and Southeast Asian contexts.
