Mia Thornton is a PhD Candidate at the Australian National University. Mia’s research asks what types of citizenship are suitable for the multicultural societies of Australia and Singapore. The research aims to analyse the meanings of citizenship for Asian diaspora inside and outside of institutional contexts. In particular Mia’s research examines what new meanings of ‘multicultural’ citizenship might mean in policy terms. Mia also works as an Education Officer at the National Museum of Australia. Previously Mia was a curator at National Centre for Craft & Design, UK and a Marie Curie research fellow at University of Brighton, UK.
