Marilyn Metta

Marilyn has recently completed a doctorate in the area of ethnic lifewriting and reflexive feminist research at Curtin University, Perth. Her thesis is an exploration of her parents' biographies and her own autobiography, tracing the historical, cultural, geographical and narrative journeys of 3 generations of Malaysian-born Chinese. She is a trained psychotherapist in private practice and has worked extensively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She teaches Women’s Studies at Edith Cowan University, Perth. She is also currently teaching with the School of Social Science and Asian Languages at Curtin University, Perth. Her forthcoming book with Peter Lang is based on her recent PhD thesis titled, Writing Against, Alongside and Beyond Memory: Lifewriting as Reflexive Poststructuralist Feminist Research Practice. Her areas of interest include domestic violence, cross-cultural issues and gendered and racial identities.
